Music with a Cause: Outernational

A band that has caught our attention is Outernational, some might say they are what you get if you were to put the Red Hot Chili Peppers, RATM and Molotov in a blender. Their cause is to spread the idea of #FutureRock and their radical vision for the future: ‘a world without borders and new hope for young people’. Their new Bilingual album Todos Somos Illegales (We Are all Illegals) is an unapologetic collection of songs described as a ‘cinema-in-sound concept album about the border, the USA and the system which criminalizes Immigrants who create the wealth of this country’. That’s a bold statement on its own, and it makes some of us happy that someone has the cojones to say it and present it in this 18 track album. With collaborations from Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Calle 13 (9-Time Latin Grammy Winner in 2011), Ceci Bastida (Tijuana No!) and Uproot Andy (Que Bajo?!) how could we ignore this band and their message? We cant and neither should you, the album is free to download below; All the band asks for is a donation of your choosing, now that’s a pretty good deal.
