Rene Perez, a.k.a. “Residente,” lead singer of popular 10 time Latin Grammy winning band Calle 13 is working on an English-language album. Rene has yet to confirm if this project will be a solo project or with the band. This announcement was made in an interview with Efe hours before the U.S concert tour.
“I want them to hear our message and I’m making a big effort because I don’t have full command of English,”
“If I launch it as a solo record, it will be a personal project but it won’t mean I’m leaving the band. Calle 13 is a brand and an idea that’s very established in Latin America and we can’t play around with that,” Rene said.
Rolling Stone Magazine gives it only 2 stars and criticized the album we think a bit too harsh. Yes we do agree most of the songs are not our favorites but we still think there might be one more song that is tolerable on the album.
Rolling Stone Magazine: But the reality of Jennifer Lopez is…blah. Love? arrives with shiny production credits — Tricky Stewart and the-Dream, RedOne, Stargate. But it’s undone by J.Lo’s slight voice and slighter personality. There are exactly two satisfying songs, “On the Floor” and the wind-whipped “Until It Beats No More.” Elsewhere, Lopez just does tame impressions of club vixens, battle-scarred romantics and, um, singers.
.. too much JLo, not enough William Levy, IMO.
YOU, first single by the lead singer of the most famous bachata music group Aventura, will make its worldwide debut on May 9. The song is an irresistible bachata with the distinct stamp of an artist that has learned how to position himself as one of the greatest talents in the genre. YOU is as picaresque as Romeo, with very sensual lyrics that speak of how women make him feel.
For this musical production, the artist has chosen an eclectic mix of bachata, R & B, up-tempo ballads, and other fusions, so as to entertain his fans. Joining him in the album is a group of producers that he invited to collaborate with him in the songs that are performed in English. So, expect the unexpected. But one thing is for sure: Romeo’s thrilling career is just starting.
With a solid career, full of great hits, success and satisfaction, no doubt Romeo’s FORMULA will bring more awards and triumphs to an artist who is just beginning. With Romeo, the best is yet to come, and his FORMULA will definitely be the winning one.

We had the pleasure of speaking with Alex González from the Mexican band Mana. Our own Danny Luna of 107.9 La Kalle asks him about the process that went into recording the new album. Alex wants to put rumors to rest, he says this is not their last album nor their final tour. They are a good example of a Latin Rock Band, and they represent the genre well… and for that we need to give them props on the release of Drama Y Luz. Overall it’s a good album. I like the track El Espejo.
