Latinos Shine In Brazil 2014 World Cup Videos

[youtube url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGtWWb9emYI” width=”560″ height=”315″]

First there’s the Official 2014 FIFA World Cup Song “We Are One (Ole Ola)” music video by Pitbull featuring Jennifer Lopez & Claudia Leitte. This video features moments from past World Cups, lots of dancing and a carnival themed party. And yes J Lo did make it to the party, performing at yesterday’s opening ceremony!

Next is Shakira‘s “La La La (Brazil 2014)” which features Carlinhos Brown. The video displays similar dancing to her over half a billion views on YouTube song “Waka Waka” featuring the same futbol players like now baby daddy Gerald Pique, Lionel Messi among others and a very special adorable appearance by Baby Milan kicking the ball to an elephant.

This song is featured on Shakira’s new self-titled album. Shakira & Activia partnered to support World Food Program and its School Meals initiative, to raise awareness about the importance of good nutrition. Find out more at activia.com. This video is also leading on the YouTube views with 106 million views followed by the Official video which has 83 Million views and both still counting.

Ricky Martin “Vida” was made by the fans in a contest where people sent in their lyrics and Ricky and the team picked the winning song that is now part of the World Cup Official Album. This video takes place in a beautiful beach in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

Santana and Wyclef Jean “Dar um Jeito (We Will Find A Way)”  is another official song of the World Cup Album.  What can we say, it’s SANTANA!

[youtube url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xieljfBC5g” width=”560″ height=”315″]

Don Omar “Pura Vida” from Pepsi Beats of the Beautiful Game is a short film style video which includes an appearance by Casper Smart and Wilmer Valderrama. The video is your classic underdog winning the game story line.

Pepsi Beats of the Beautiful Game (http://www.pepsi.com/thegame) is the world’s first visual soundtrack made up of 11 anthemic songs and companion short films, or ‘filmtracks’, that capture the indelible spirit of the world’s most popular game — Futbol.

And we decide to add this last one “World Cup Song: Brazil 2014″ by Joe Weller  which has over 2 million views in just a short period of two weeks. He features a few futbol players in a very funny way. Joe Weller is a YouTube video man who says not to take his videos too seriously. Check it out!

Dominican Duo Changes The Face Of Production

It is a sign of sophistication in the Urban Latin music world when one thinks out of the box. When two friends do this, it becomes a plan and the idea grows to its natural fruition. Such was the case with two producers, Alcover and Xtassy (A&X), who have made a name for themselves producing for large names like Don Omar, Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias, and Romeo Santos, among others.

The occasion was the grand opening of “We are Loud” studios in the Bronx. This studio serves multiple purposes and was created as a way to give back to the community that supports the music they help create. For the Latin Billboard producers of the year in 2013, it is all about the plan. “It’s not only about the music. You have to have a team and a marketing plan.” Xtassy explained.

Both are from humble beginnings so they used their work ethic and ideas to gain the trust of local artists as they built a reputation in the Dominican Republic and by extension New York City. It was from their limited means earlier in the game that allows them to emphasize with the needs others have in the business. “If our friends wanted to hear us, they had to come to our house to hear it.”

Alcover-and-Xtassy

A chance meeting with Don Omar took two tries to secure but once they did magic was created with two of Don Omar’s most successful efforts. The signature moment was probably the most played song in 2013, “Dutty Love” with Don Omar and protégé Natti Natasha, who appeared this evening. “It’s the people’s song.” Alcover refers to the lack of promotion of that particular song. The names that came to support this opening are examples of style over substance. You had director Jessy Terrero, Henry Santos, as well as “Orange is the New Black” actress, Jackie Cruz.

But the space that A&X created was as diverse as their music. Starting from the main space at the end of a long foyer as you entered, we had a large open space with white concrete floors running from wall to wall and intersecting it. This will be used for live performances, photo shoots, and parties.

In the adjoining rooms we viewed a DJ classroom with equipment laid out on separate desks. The DJ Booth contained a handmade set with several Latin Mixx Awards decorating the walls. But the centerpiece was A&X Studio space. The walls decked out in red, white, and blue, with clouds depicted as well. The studio was well equipped and if you close your eyes, you can almost hear Don Omar at work on his new project.

This is what can be done when two young men with a dream, ideas, and a plan work hard and think out of the box. As they move into 2014 they have the secret to their success imbedded mentally. Alcover shared why, “We’re not the only producers around but we work hard and those that do stay relevant.”.

Megaton Mundial de Polito Vega at Citi Field

Recap: Megaton Mundial de Polito Vega

Megaton Mundial de Polito Vega at Citi Field

Latinos came from all over Sunday to witness Megaton Mundial at Citi Field, Polito Vega‘s Latin Festival, for what promised to be a spectacular day filled with chart-topping Latin artists.

The evening started on a bit of a wet note due to mild rain around 2pm but that did not stop people from filling up the seats. Fortunately mother nature cooperated and the rain didn’t return for the rest of the evening. The concert was running on Latino time which meant that the concert was going to be a long one! Over all it was a great turnout for Felix Cabrera, and Polito Vega, who confirmed 45,000 people in attendance. Most of the house was full and big headliners like Wisin y Yandel, Daddy Yankee and Don Omar performed.

Special performance from 50 cent caused euphoria among concert goers during Wisin y Yandel’s set.

Another highlighted performance was Don Omar and Daddy Yankee performing “Hasta Abajo” together on the same stage.

Ricardo Arjona, Alejandro Sanz, Victor Manuelle, N’klabe, 3Ball Mty, Willie Colon, Andy Montañez, Zacarías Ferreíra, Secreto, Crazy Design & Carlito Wey, Alex Sensation, Anthony Santos, and Gilberto Santa Rosa also made concert-goers gozar to familiar tunes.

The concert also had an emotional intermission with a 5 minute video commemorating Polito Vega’s career, and proclamation from senator Robert Menendez, as well as a moment of silence for Polito Vega’s late wife, Judith Vega.

But then there is the bad, a few glitches in production and a few artist no shows like Jenni Rivera and Espinoza Paz, which were included on the second promotional materials. From the audience’s point of view the artist took too long to take the stage, with no real entertainment in between sets. Music or DJ mixing would have been nice to keep the party going but instead people sat through announcements. Drinks and food finished at 9pm (time the concert was originally suppose to be over by) and people still had over two more hours of performances… Overall people had a great time and enjoyed a full day of top notch performances.

There were many other special appearances, but this time not making a helicopter entrance, El Pacha, and Penelope Menchaca spokespersons for MajorWorldEspanol.com, Megaton Mundial’s main sponsor.

Los Colombianos missed performance by Silvestre Dangond, due to his flight delay and full schedule he could not go on stage even though he was in the building. He did show up to the Press room and tweeted this after the concert:

Q extraño es quitarse la Ropa del concierto sin haberla sudado!

Recap: Latin Billboards 2012

Don Omar and Prince Royce were the nights big winners receiving 8 awards each. The night was filled with great performances but the ones that stood out the most to us was Marc Anthony who was actually honored with the Billboard Hall of Fame Award, which celebrates an artistic career that goes beyond musical performance and takes into account his tremendous influence as a global artist in multiple fields. Go Marc!

Another performance was the grand finale of the night, international sensation Michel Teló with his hit “Ai Se Eu Te Pego” which now has 300 million views on youtube… Check it out.
[youtube url=”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcm55lU9knw” height=”315″ width=”600″ frameborder=”0″>

Besides the great performances there was also a name blooper at the red carpet and some awkward moments between Don Omar and Lucenzo. We hope it’s just a misunderstanding and they will keep making hits like “Danza Kuduro”.

Here are some behind the scenes pics we where able to recap:
